Dawson County Chamber to Host Candidate Forum

The Advocacy Committee of the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce plans to host a Dawson County Candidate Forum on April 15th at Dawson County Middle School. Attendees are invited to arrive beginning at 6:00 p.m. to meet the candidates and the forum will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Candidates that have been invited to participate are those running for County Commission District 1, County Commission District 3, State Senate District 51, State House District 9, State House District 7, At Large School Board, and District 3 School Board. Candidates who are running without opposition have been invited to briefly speak so that the public can learn more about them. Forums involving opening statements, questions, and closing statements will be held for candidates seeking election in State House District 7 and County Commission District 1.

The Advocacy Committee is requesting that members of the Chamber submit questions to be asked during the forum. Questions from the audience will not be allowed during the event. The Advocacy Committee and Chamber encourage citizens to ensure that they are registered to vote as the cutoff for registration in order to vote in the May 20th primary is April 21st. Early voting will begin April 28th and will be held Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday early voting will occur on May 10th from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. All early voting will take place at the Dawson County Board of Elections located at 96 Academy Avenue in downtown Dawsonville.
