GI North is pleased to announce that we will be hosting our 2nd annual golf tournament to support colorectal cancer awareness and research. As you may be aware, colorectal cancer is the 2nd most prevalent cancer in the United States with an estimated 153,020 new cases in 2023. In 2019, there was an estimated 1,544,770 people living with colorectal cancer in the United States. Approximately 4.4 percent of men and 4.1 percent of women will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer at some point during their lifetime. With increasing awareness and diagnostic tools available, we have seen that new colorectal cancer cases have been falling an average of 1.0% each year from 2011-2019. However, in 2019, studies have shown only 69.4% of eligible adults were up to date with their colorectal cancer screening. As a gastroenterology practice, we want to do our part by continuing supporting colorectal cancer awareness and research.
