Join our 3rd annual ‘Shine Pedalers Metric bike ride on July 25, 2015. You may participate in either the metric or half-metric ride. You’ll enjoy scenic countryside with rest stops stocked with snacks and drinks. Cyclists riding the Metric will climb Burnt Mountain, all will enjoy breathtaking views on the scenic routes. Start and finish line will be at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame . Once you finish the ride you are invited to visit the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and the Dawsonville Moonshine Distillery for a tour. Your entry includes a ride t-shirt and goody bag (guaranteed if registered by July 21st), prizes for king and queen of the mountain, nice facilities, well-marked routes, maps, support, and a great time.
Registration will open at 6:30 a.m. The Metric will start at 7:30 and the Half-Metric will start at 7:45.

This is a challenging ride through the scenic North Georgia Mountains beginning in the "Moonshine Capital of the World"! This ride offers a Half-Metric and Metric route that runs through the gorgeous mountains and valleys of Dawson County. It starts at the iconic Dawsonville Municipal Complex which houses the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and Dawsonville Moonshine Distillery. The ride journeys through scenic foothills and valleys of the North Georgia mountains with views of open pastures, old barns and country life, then takes cyclers up highway 136 Scenic Byway giving them breathtaking views of Burnt Mountain and surrounding areas. Cyclers pass by Amicalola Falls and some take the extra ride to the top of Amicalola Falls Road leading them to the breathtaking and relaxing site of a 729 foot waterfalls, tallest east of the Mississippi.
Detailed turn sheets with emergency contacts provided at event. Both routes are on ridewithgps.com, and links are on the event page, those will also download directly to your Garmin as well. All turns will be clearly marked before and after turns along with SAG stops every 12-15 miles There will be a support car on the road during the ride that can assist riders in case of emergencies.
