DR. KEVIN POWELL JOINS NORTHEAST GEORGIA PHYSICIANS GROUP
SURGICAL ASSOCIATES IN DAWSONVILLE
DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — People living along the Georgia 400 Corridor now have a new
option for surgery, as a new general surgeon is performing advanced procedures at Northeast
Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Lumpkin.
Kevin Powell, MD, recently joined Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG)
Surgical Associates and sees patients in Dawsonville. Dr. Powell earned his medical degree from
the University of Cincinnati and completed his general surgery residency at Good Samaritan
Hospital in Ohio.
“It’s exciting to join a growing community and help people through surgery at what is
essentially a brand-new hospital,” says Dr. Powell. “People can see me at my office in
Dawsonville, right off Georgia 400, and then it’s an easy 10-minute drive north to the hospital.
No need to fight traffic driving south and parking is a breeze.”
Dr. Powell is an expert in minimally invasive techniques, a field he is passionate about.
His focus on these techniques reduces scars, recovery time, and pain following open surgery and
ensures the best possible outcomes for his patients. The areas he treats include issues with the
appendix, gallbladder, colon, hernia, spleen, heartburn/reflux, thyroid, and parathyroid.
Dr. Powell’s passion for surgery and patient care is matched only by his enthusiasm for
life beyond the hospital. His interests, which include spending time with family, working out,
cooking, off-roading, scuba diving, photography, and range shooting, reflect his active lifestyle.
